Mayor Mike Rawlings and the Dallas City Council are holding an important open meeting at City Hall this Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 3:00 p.m.
As you may remember, Plan 3 was the best map, not only for folks living in far East Dallas, but the entire City! Even though the Redistricting Commission submitted another Map (Plan 16) to the Mayor for Council approval, recent media attention has created a firestorm of controversy and the Mayor wants to hear what citizens in Dallas have to say about other Plans submitted to the Redistricting Commission.
The Ferguson Road Initiative is still strongly SUPPORTING Plan 3 for the following reasons:
· This map removes the Ferguson Road corridor from South Dallas.
· Creates a District mainly made up of residents living along and adjacent to the Ferguson Road corridor as well as Samuel Blvd and I-30 east of Dolphin Road.
· Gives voters in far East Dallas the ability to elect their own representative to the City Council and thereby address the pressing needs of our community!
