This event is being hosted by the White Rock East Coalition of Area Neighborhoods (WECAN), who is humbly following the lead of the League of Women Voters to put forth information and encourage civic engagement without endorsing any specific candidate.

Old Lake Highlands Neighborhood

October 14 – Town Hall Meeting @ Lake Highlands Baptist Church @ 6:30pmCandidates for the District 9 City Council Seat will convene on the podium of the Lake Highlands Baptist Church, 642 Brookhurst across from Hexter Elementary, from 6:30pm to 8pm for a Town Hall Meeting. This event is being hosted by the White Rock East Coalition of Area Neighborhoods (WECAN), who is humbly following the lead of the League of Women Voters to put forth information and encourage civic engagement without endorsing any specific candidate.The roster of possible candidates scheduled to appear includes, in alphabetical order, Darren Boruff, Mark Clayton, Robert Curry, Christopher Jackson, and Sam Merten. After brief opening remarks by the candidates, the neighborhood association presidents from Eastwood, Lochwood, Old Lake Highlands, and the Peninsula, along with the Greater Casa View Alliance, will be asking questions to the candidates and each candidate will be able to respond in turn.This will be the first look at the city council candidates for District 9 for the upcoming May 9 general election. The coalition members strongly urge everybody to attend the meeting to show our strength in numbers and to demonstrate the concern and passion we have for our neighborhoods on the issues that face us.
