The City of Dallas has teamed up with Reading Partners Dallas

Friends,

When was the last time you dedicated just 1 hour a week to a student at a Dallas ISD school? We are excited to announce that our office has teamed up with Reading Partners Dallas, a nonprofit committed to enhancing the literacy rates and academic engagement of students in Dallas. During the 2013-14 school year, 663 students in 17 Dallas schools were mentored by 599 weekly volunteers. Volunteers come from all backgrounds and no previous teaching experience is required, only a desire to encourage and assist local students in their pursuit of learning.

We would love for you to join us this school year as we seek to serve the students at 18 schools across the city, in particular we need volunteers at W.W. Bushman, Thomas L. Marsalis, and Elisha M. Pease elementary schools. As a volunteer, you will be provided with a proven one-on-one curriculum to work with alongside your student. Your commitment of 1 hour of tutoring each week has the potential to more than double their rate of literacy learning. Tutoring sessions are available Monday- Thursday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Please consider how you might unite with us in our nurturing of a new generation of Dallas readers.

All the best,

Office of the Mayor
City of Dallas
