#GivingThanks Part 2: In this season of Thanksgiving, FRI turns our thoughts to…

by Maria Valenzuela | Nov 27, 2014

#GivingThanks Part 2:
In this season of Thanksgiving, FRI turns our thoughts to our members, supporters, and volunteers for all they have done over the last year to help us meet our mission: To transform Far East Dallas into a Safe, Beautiful, Prosperous and Proud community by inspiring hope and working together to achieve a shared vision.”

FRI says thank you to:

4. Dr. Gerry Jones lives in Forest Hills and practices at the esteemed Doctors Hospital at White Rock Lake. Gerry joined the FRI board of directors in 2012 and was instrumental in helping to see FRI’s transition from being a primarily governmental funded agency to one that is self-sustaining through community and business support. Gerry is the chair of the FRI Economic Development Committee and is currently leading our efforts to see the White Rock Hill Recreation Center come to fruition.

5. Gary Hasty, owner of Heroes House at 2122 Highland Road. Gary took a burned down apartment complex, rebuilt it, from the ground up, and turned it into a nonprofit property that provides quality housing for our country’s veterans. Gary has joined the FRI board of directors and serves on the Economic Development Committee.

6. Kerry Goodwin served as the FRI Weed & Seed program coordinator for FRI beginning in 2003 until the program was discontinued. Kerry continues to work for FRI as the director of our VITA program and he also religiously helps us with the NewsFlash electronic e-blast twice a month. Kerry now works for our good friend and Founder’s Circle member, State Representative Eric Johnson. We miss you Kerry, but appreciate your continued involvement.
