Dallas Celebrates Black Culture in A Tribute to the Arts
Free, public event highlights African American contributions

What:
To celebrate Black History Month, the City of Dallas Black Employees Support Team (B.E.S.T.) and Dallas Park and Recreation Department are hosting a free networking event to recognize Black cultural contributions to the arts. The interactive program will feature a walking museum of live acts paying homage to celebrated spoken word, dance, and visual artists. The night will conclude in a jazz concert by the 2013 Sammons Center Cabaret Artist of The Year, Denise Lee & The Divas.

3800 Parry Avenue (former location of The Women’s Museum at Fair Park)

When:
Thursday, February 26 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Why:
Black History Month is a uniquely American observance to celebrate the achievements of African Americans and to recognize the group’s central role in U.S. history. Black History Month promotes opportunities for cross cultural dialogue, personal interactions, and discovery. This event is open to anyone who wishes to learn, to share, and to grow and is sponsored in part by the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs.
