Federal, State, and City Government

Federal Government –From 2000-2011 FRI was the recipient of nearly $2M dedicated to fighting crime, increasing public safety, and providing social services in Far East Dallas.
As a Department of Justice “graduated” Weed and Seed site, when needed we continue to collaborate with with our US Federal Attorney as well as other law enforcement agencies in order to maintain decreased crime and increased safety. FRI works with IRS Volunteer in Tax Assistance to provide free tax assistance to low income residents in Far East Dallas.

State Government – From 2009-2011 FRI received a Victims of Crime Act (OVAG) grant from the State of Texas to provide outreach services to victims of domestic abuse, family violence, and violent crimes. These services helped hundreds our most vulnerable citizens and youth to recover by providing safe places to receive services.

City Government – FRI has a long-standing relationship with the City of Dallas. A dream since 1995, we worked with Library Services to fund and build our $8.5M White Rock Hills Library, located at 9157 Ferguson Road. Opened in 2012, this library is currently serving 500 people weekly. The library is not only providing access to much needed technology services, but also includes an auditorium and classrooms. The Library has become a community-hub where neighborhood meetings, reading classes, book clubs, and education programs are housed. FRI is currently working closely with the Parks and Recreation Department to fund the first multi-generational center in the City of Dallas. This will be a facility that will truly serve the entire community, from the “cradle to the grave.” It will be a center with a holistic approach to building a healthy community and will possibly be up to 60,000 sq ft. The feasibility study for what FRI is calling our Regional Recreation Wellness Center (the CENTER) is set to launch in fall 2014. The CENTER will serve as an anchor for a mixed income development that will include housing and retail as well as tying into the soon-to-be realized White Rock South trailhead. This site is located near the intersection of Highland and Ferguson Roads.
