DESCRIPTION:League of Women Voters is hosting a panel presentation about the proposed Home Rule initiative at free public educational meetings on: \nTuesday\, May 27 at Northaven Church at 11211 Preston Rd from 7 to 9 pm\nWednesday\, May 28 at Fretz Recreation Center at 6950 Beltline at Hillcrest from 6:30 to 8:30 pm\nThursday\, May 29 at Fireside Recreation Center at 8601 Fireside Dr. Dallas 75217 \nThe purpose of the meeting is to inform Dallas Independent School District (DISD) voters about: \n\nHome rule in the Texas Education Code\,\nThe status of DISD and its students\,\nThe elected trustee structure and benefits to DISD students\, teachers\, and the community under the trustee structure\,\nAnd home rule\, the benefits to DISD students\, teachers\, and the community under the proposed home rule structure\, and the petition process.\n\nAfter the panelists have spoken\, there will be audience questions which are written on cards for the panelists\, and panelists will respond with their answers\, and an open microphone for 10 minutes when citizens can make their own comments. Every effort is being made to have a Spanish translator at each meeting. \nInformed citizen participants will decide what is best for DISD students\, families\, and the community in a democratic society.
