ATO also provides immediate assistance to an officer’s family in the event of the death of an active officer. \nIn light of the July 7th tragedy which involved the killing of four DPD officers and one DART officer\, FRI wants our Far East Dallas community to remember our Dallas Police Department and the sacrifices they make every day to keep our community safe.  \nGet your yard sign by purchasing one\, joining FRI\, or donating online. \nYard Signs supporting the Dallas Police Department and the Ferguson Road Initiative will be for sale to the community for $15.  Proceeds from the sale of the Yard Signs will go to the ATO Foundation and FRI. DESCRIPTION:The Ferguson Road Initiative is partnering with the Senior SNAP Access Task Force of the Senior Hunger Action Team.  The purpose of the team is to work together to increase senior participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) so that low-income seniors can get help purchasing healthier foods. The Task Force is piloting a collaborative outreach and application assistance campaign in the 75228 zip code. This Support for Seniors Campaign was launched at an AARP Town Hall meeting on June 27 at White Rock Hills Library\, where hundreds of promotional flyers were distributed. \nThe Task Force is organizing a free\, open to the public food and health expo called Eat Well Live Well that will take place on Friday\, October 2\, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Harry Stone Recreation Center. It will feature nutrition education\, cooking demonstrations\, health screenings\, and SNAP application assistance – all geared towards seniors in 75228. DESCRIPTION:This Saturday\, January 24 at 10:30 at Forest Hills’ Warren Angus Ferris Cemetery – Corner of St Frances and San Leandro there will be a dedication by the Texas Branch of the War of 1912 descendants of a newly installed headstone for Benjamin Dye\, who’s grave (1852) is at the site. \nIt is estimated that the cemetery has over 100 graves. There will also be a ribbon cutting ceremony. We invite you and everyone in the area to this kickoff event. \nLocal residents are welcome to bring all of their recycling items to the event. The recycling containers will remain at this location going forward.
