FRIMilestones

Since 1998, the Ferguson Road Initiative has accomplished the following:

Reduced crime in our graduated Weed & Seed area. FRI has seen a 61% reduction in violent crime and a 25% reduction in overall crime.

Unified neighborhoods. FRI has grown from five to twenty neighborhoods working collectively to improve our quality of life.

Improved TAKS scores. FRI has helped raise academic achievement scores at Bayles Elementary School through After School and Enrichment Programs, as well as events such as Bayles Fest, a health, safety, housing, and financial wellness fair.

Facilitated $40 million dollars of investment along the Ferguson Road corridor. Investment has grown in the areas of affordable and mixed income housing as well as retail.

Advocated for and received $30 million dollars in Bond Program monies since 1998. Our White Rock Hills Recreation Center is slated to be built near the Ferguson and Highland intersection. We will continue to advocate that our White Rock Hills Library be located in the community.

Increased property values by 30%.

Designated a new Weed & Seed area, the Ferguson Road Initiative 2-Points Weed and Seed. Monies from the Department of Justice are being used to fight crime and create neighborhood development in the Buckner/Peavy area. Since April, this community has seen a 15% reduction in crime due to enhanced police presence!
